About Karnavati University and Unitedworld School of Law

Unitedworld School of Law (UWSL), a part of Karnavati University, offers legal education with a focus on practical learning, ensuring students are wellequipped for realworld challenges. Moot court competitions play a pivotal role in this training, providing students with a platform to hone their research, writing, and oral advocacy skills. UWSL has a track record of organizing national and international moot court competitions, attracting participants from across the globe. Esteemed dignitaries such as former judges of the Supreme Court of India and High Courts have graced these events.

Aim of the Competition

The competition aims to:

  • Enhance participants' knowledge of legal procedures and advocacy.

  • Provide practical exposure to law students through a simulated court experience.

  • Encourage the development of critical thinking, persuasive argumentation, and research skills.

Venue and Date

The Bar Council of India National Moot Court Competition, 2024 will be held from 18th October to 20th October 2024 at Unitedworld School of Law, Karnavati University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

Eligibility

The competition is open to all students enrolled in a bona fide undergraduate/postgraduate law course (3year or 5year) conducted by any recognized college or university.

Team Composition

  • Each team must consist of 3 members: 2 Speakers and 1 Researcher.

  • Team members must remain the same throughout the competition.

  • No additional member is allowed to be part of the team for local hospitality or prizes.

Awards

1. Winner: ₹2,00,000/

2. 1st Runner Up: ₹1,00,000/

3. 2nd Runner Up: ₹50,000/

4. Best Speaker: ₹10,000/

5. 2nd Best Speaker: ₹7,500/

6. Best Memorial: ₹10,000/

7. 2nd Best Memorial: ₹7,500/

  • Top performers will be awarded scholarships of ₹1,000/ per month for one year by the Bar Council of India. Outstanding briefs may also be considered for publication in the Indian Bar Review.

  • All participants will receive participation certificates.

  • Special certificates will be awarded to QuarterFinalists, SemiFinalists, Runnersup, and Winners.

  • Start of Online Registration & Case Release: 1st September 2024

  • Last Date for Registration: 30th September 2024

  • Last Date for Payment of Registration Fees: 30th September 2024

  • Clarifications Released: 5th October 2024

  • Memorial Submission (Soft Copy): 10th October 2024

  • Draw of Lots & Memorial Exchange: 18th October 2024

  • Preliminary Rounds & QuarterFinals: 19th October 2024

  • SemiFinals, Finals, Valedictory Ceremony: 20th October 2024

Dress Code

  • Ladies: White shirt with black pant/skirt, black tie, black coat, and black shoes.

Strict adherence to the dress code is mandatory.

Accommodation

Accommodation will be provided during the competition dates. Teams arriving early or leaving late must arrange their own stay.
