About UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF LEGAL STUDIES NATIONAL ENVIRONMENT
The University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS) was established as a constituent department of Panjab University in the academic session of 2004-05. Despite its relatively recent inception, it has quickly become one of the premier legal institutes, offering a unique blend of tradition and modernity. The institute's mission is to equip students with the skills needed to understand and navigate the complexities of various legal and interdisciplinary issues, enabling them to develop solutions through critical analysis and reasoning. The dynamic and interactive academic environment at UILS enhances students' abilities in drafting, research, advocacy, interviewing, and negotiation. The institute's academic calendar is enriched with regular Moot Court Competitions, Client Counseling Sessions, Quiz Contests, Seminars, Group Discussions, and Extension Lectures, all designed to further refine the students' legal expertise.
Aim of the Competition:
The Competition has been conceived with the aim to:
· Create awareness on Environment Law in a systematic / scientific manner and train participants for effective practice.
· Facilitate the evolution of Environment Law through the jurisprudential analysis of the existing law and consequential emergence of new laws besides developing cutting edge skills in research, writing and advocacy.
Venue and Date:
The 7th Surana & Surana and University Institute of Legal Studies National Environment Law Moot Court Competition shall be held Virtually on September 13th & September 14th, 2024....
Eligibility:
The competition is open for students who are pursuing LLB three year / five-year course during the current academic year.
Team Composition:
a. Each team should consist of a minimum of 2 and maximum of 3 members. This number cannot be modified under any circumstances.
b. There shall be 2 speakers and 1 researcher designated for each team. The researcher shall be allowed to argue with prior permission of the court and National Administrator in case of illness of the designated speakers.
c. Each team will be provided a team code prior to the submission of memorials via email. This team code is only for the memorials. Teams should not disclose the identity of their institution in their memorials; such disclosure shall invite penalties including disqualification. The decision for the same shall be at the discretion of the National Administrator.
Awards:
a. Winning team Rs. 10,000/-
b. Runner up team Rs. 7,000/-
c. Best Memorial Rs. 4,000/-
d. 2nd Best Memorial Rs. 3,000/-
e. Best Student Advocate Rs. 4,000/-
f. 2nd Best Student Advocate Rs. 2,000/-
All participants will be awarded participation certificates

How to Register-
a. Online Registration: Teams must register online at www.moot.in from August 5, 2024, to August 28, 2024. No temporary registration requests will be considered.
b. Acknowledgement: Upon successful submission, participants will receive an automated acknowledgment. Final acceptance will be communicated by August 30, 2024, or earlier.
c. Registration Process:
a. Option 1: Submit the completed Registration Form cum Approval Letter, signed and sealed by the university/college/moot society.
b. Option 2: Upload the Registration Form (unsigned) and a scanned copy of the authorization letter as a single PDF or provide an official email communication from the institution.
d. Signatories: The form must be signed by the Faculty-in-charge, Registrar, Dean, Principal, Director, Chancellor, or Vice-Chancellor.
e. Submission: Send the soft copy of the Registration and Approval Letter/authorization email as a single PDF to mootingsocietyuils@gmail.com by August 30, 2024. Use the subject line "7th SURANA & SURANA AND UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF LEGAL STUDIES NATIONAL ENVIRONMENT LAW MOOT COURT COMPETITION - REGISTRATION." A provisional team code will be assigned for memorial submissions.
f. Fee Payment: A registration fee of Rs. 1,500 must be paid online by August 30, 2024. Payment details are:
