ABOUT THE COMPETITION:
The Centre for Conflict Management and Dispute Resolution of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University, Sonepat is organizing 1st National Essay Writing Competition, 2024 on the theme “Navigating the Dynamics of Mediation in Contemporary Legal Practices.” on July 8th, 2024. The competition is being organized with an aim to inspire participants to delve into the implications and challenges faced in the dispute resolution and conflict management. The submissions are invited from law students, academicians, practitioners and researchers. The competition encourages in- depth research and theoretical exploration of mediation practices.
DEADLINE:
The deadline for the registration is July 1, 2024.
ELIGIBILITY:
Students (of all streams), academicians, professionals, government officials are eligible to participate in this competition.
Along with them, members of consumer forum, Voluntary Consumer Organizations and Non- Government Organizations are also eligible to apply.
THEME:
The main theme of the competition is “Navigating the Dynamics of Mediation in Contemporary Legal Practices.”
The sub- themes may include but not limited to:
Mediation as an alternative to litigation in legal disputes
Mediation and social justice: promoting equality and fairness
The future of mediation: emerging trends and challenges
Mediation in International Conflicts
The Interplay between Mediation, Insolvency & Bankruptcy
Mediation in cases of Intellectual Property Rights disputes
Mediation Accessibility: Breaking Barriers for Equitable Dispute Resolution
Mediation in Crisis: Legal Frameworks for Emergency Conflict Resolution
Beyond Borders: International Mediation Law and the Quest for Consistency
Mediation Ethics in the Digital Era
Cultural Sensitivity in Mediation Law
Smart Contracts and Mediation
Restorative Justice and Mediation
HOW TO REGISTER?
All the participants shall register themselves online via Google Forms by 1st July, 2024
Registration fees is Rs. 100/-.
Participants shall submit their essays via Google Forms by 8th July, 2024.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
The Essay must be in English and in .doc/ .docx format.
The submission must include a separate document containing title of the essay, name of the author, name of institute affiliation, phone no. and email Id of the participant.
A declaration stating that the essay is an original work of the author must be attached and must include the signature of author in .pdf Format.
The word limit is 1500- 2500 words.
Main Body text should be in Times New Roman, font size 12 with 1.5 line spacing.
Footnotes should be in Times New Roman, font size 10 with 1.0 line spacing.
Citations must follow Bluebook 20th Edition citation format.
Margin of 1 inch on all sides and text should be in justified alignment.
No co- authorship is permitted.
A maximum of 10% similarity is permissible.
AWARDS:
First Prize: Rs. 15000/- INR & Certificate of Merit
Second Prize: Rs. 10000/-INR & Certificate of Merit
Third Prize: Rs. 5000/-INR & Certificate of Merit
All the three winners will be given an internship opportunity at K&R Legal Advocates and Solicitors.
Certificate of Participation will be given to all who submit the essays.
